S Mode – BUYER BEWARE!!!
I am a very tech savvy user but I didn’t read Microsoft Windows 11 fine print – this laptop comes with S Mode turned on which prevents you from installing any packages that are not in the Windows store – which is most of what I use. I have not yet been able to disable it in spite of following Microsoft’s instructions repeatedly and this is 3 hours in… VERY FRUSTRATED!!! I will never purchase a computer with S Mode again. I wonder if the S stands for Stupid rather than Security. If I wanted a closed system I’d buy an apple device.

Great for the price- however the posting is misleading
This is a very nice and powerful laptop for the price, working well and fast, battery life is not great but fine if you adjust the power setting.The add implies that MS office is included in the laptop, however it is only installed, to use it you can get 30 days free trial (by putting your CC info) but than you must pay.This misleading product info really leaves a bitter taste from this purchase. As a consumer I just want to get what was advertised, nothing less nothing more.

Great Laptop
Very nice laptop. After purchasing – Microsoft Office, Webroot Internet Security and a new HP Office Jet 250 Mobile Printer and completing the transfer of all our files, I ran into a Big Issue ! Then on 7/19/24, I went to turn it on the laptop and it would not turn on. Needless to say, I was in a panic mode. Was I about to lose evertything But, Thanks to Amazon Technical, we were able to get the laptop up and running. Needless to say I was Happy – Happy – Happy !

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER !!!
I can only begin this review with serious misgivings about this particular Dell Inspirion laptop. When one purchases a product from a «Dell Vendor», one presumes it is a 100% Dell product. Apparently this was not the case with this laptop. Exactly 3 days after the Amazon/Vendor’s return policy ran out, this laptop stopped working. The error message was «Corrupt Hard Drive». I can understand electronic devices will sometimes have issues. I can also understand manufacturers and vendors need to have a limit on how long they will allow items to be returned. So we called Dell Warranty Service, and they were very helpful. They sent a box, pre-paid shipping label and we thought that would be the end of it. Wait a reasonable time for the laptop to be repaired under warranty, and we could go on with our lives. NOT SO. According to the Dell Warranty Center, this particular laptop has a 3rd Party Hard Drive. Not a hard-drive provided by Dell or installed by Dell or used by Dell. So… our laptop was… in fact… not able to be repaired under warranty. Dell has offered to fix the laptop and install the correct, but the repair is nearly as much as the laptop cost new from Amazon. This is totally unacceptable! When we bought the laptop, we presumed it was a new Dell Laptop with appropriately sourced and installed electronics that would be approved by Dell (or installed by Dell)… BUYER BEWARE of ROKC Electronics. They have offered NO Help, NO Sympathy, and we are now completely out of the money we spent, and have a laptop that is absolutely Useless!!!! I can only imagine if we were still in the window for return, they would put the same Non-Dell parts back in, and we would be facing similar issues down the road. This is not the way to run a business. And certainly not the way an Amazon vendor should be doing business. Very Very Very Disappointed!

Wrong Operating System
Update: The seller got back to me and after sending them a few pics, they sent me a valid key and now everything is great.The product description says Windows 11 Pro. It should be the Pro version though. When I got the product, a secondary label was put on the box and it says Windows 11 Pro. However, when I go through the setup, Windows 11 Pro is installed on the computer but it does not have the correct Product Key/Digital License for Windows 11 Pro. The troubleshooter says the computer has a valid license for Windows 11 Home. I’ve sent a message to the seller to get a valid key for 11 Pro. I’ll update my review once I get a response from them.

Inaccurate Discription
On the Spec sheets it showed the processor at 4.2 but its only 2.5 when I questioned them this was the response Even though they did offer to take it back I just put a couple of expensive programs on the computer, photo editing is why I checked the speed. I will be out that cost.. Even though they agree the discription is wrong they have yet to change or clarify. Still like the computer but I would have bought something a little faster had I known This computer’s base frequency is 2.5 GHz and can run up to 4.2 GHz on a single core when the system demands it. The product description is indeed inaccurate.

Defective unit
I bought this based on performance, touchscreen and RAMs available. The touchscreen started zigzagging and then the unit wouldn’t turn on, so I’ve retrieved it. I will buy another Dell in a store because they are a great brand. I think I just received a lemon. Thank you, Amazon for an easy return.

This was the second Dell Inspiron 3520 I have tried. I also purchased an Asurion support plan as well. From the initial software load (nothing had been added) Both units mysteriousy powered themselves on to a system login screen at 12:50 pm or 01:30am everyday. They were in a hard shutdown phase. I worked in IT for 40 years could not solve it, tempted to do a full system reload ( but did not it is a new system). Tried a System reset and Windows load, that did not work, there were no entries in the BIOS menus to address this either. Contacted Asurion, they ran the same processes and test with the same results. Recommended returning to Amazon. When the second unit arrive with the same issue. I reached out to Dell support. After reviewing the system and checking the Dell system hardware page they determined the system was shipped orginally with 8 GB of memory and a 256 GB SSD drive. When ordering the system from Amazon I had chosen 16 GB and 1 TB. All that to SAY DELL WOULD NOT HELP AS THE SYSTEM HARDWARE HAD BEEN UPGRADED FROM ORIGINAL SPECIFICATIONS. They recommended a full system format and reload if this 1 TB harddrive was to be used. Net result the system has been returned to Amazon. Not all systems will experience this but I have seen 2 systems that had the same issue. That is a pattern my friends.

Deficient Battery
I fully charged the laptop at night before shutting it down and going to bed. It required the power cord to turn on in the morning. The battery did not hold a charge. Do not purchase.
