All in on BlueSound
I own a whole suite of BlueSound products including two Pulse 2i’s, an NAD C368 receiver, and now the Flex 2i.I bought the Flex to bring on trips and to use on our deck. This small size speaker has awesome sound and is easy to connect to your network, and using Bluetooth. This little speaker is heavier than you would think, which is what helps provide the sound quality.While I use the desktop controller for my LAN network. I used the Android app to boot the speaker up for the first time so I could get the updates. Now, whenever I plug it in, my network will detect it.Bluetooth is easy to set up. BUT word of warning. Do NOT select the Bluetooth option from your Android app or desktop controller: that hoses your network. (If you do that, reboot each device and the network with find it.) Bluetooth is actually easier to set up. Plug in the speaker, open the sync for your phone, select the Flex, and you are ready to stream!Since I always have somewhere to plug in the Flex I didn’t buy the battery but there is one available. But I did buy a remote. The remote is great. Works with all my Bluesound devices.Finally. BlueSound has its own operating system so Bluesound devices are very robust. Support is also great, you can call or email and you get help.

Mighty sound when «burned in».
«Burn it in» by loudly playing 100 hours of challenging music. Louder volume than you would normally listen. Burning in will open up the midrange and balance out the base. Excellent sound imaging even from a single speaker. Roon recognizes it as an endpoint. It decodes MQA files. Wifi connection is convenient, but slightly better sound from ethernet. Fiddly BluOS setup.

Elegant little units but overpriced
I like everything about these but the price. I tried to make them work as surrounds in a home theater setup but the Powernode 2i connection was not stable enough. They sound good enough to justify 300 bucks but not 600.

Poor quality software and network connection, awful support
I purchased a soundbar and sub about two years ago. This simple setup seemed to work great so I decided to expand to a multi room setup and add surround sound speakers.Huge mistake.Since purchase and setup I have been plagued with a ton of issues that all trace back to a serious lack of thought on the software and networking side. Now for reference Im a network engineer turned cybersec architect with 13 years experience. I’ve been around a lot of software and networking stuff, and the choices made by bluesound are beyond pitiful.Let’s start with the basics, network connection. These are wireless speakers whose main pitch is to allow multi room setup. Bluesound clearly cheaper out on whatever chips they use, because the speakers routinely see a signal strength about 10 dBm below what every other device/diagnostic tool does. This leads to incredibly degraded sound quality on speakers that are barely fifteen feet of unobstructed Line of Sight from the wireless access point. Additionally there has apparently been a bug in how they group speakers for Dolby surround with theater mode. I’ve had no eta on fixing it or any details, and no contacts from any senior support people despite promises they would.Onto the app.Some appalling design choices here. So the speakers will cast a non internet connected Hotspot for initial wireless network config. That makes sense, you connect to the devices Hotspot and then put in wifi info so it can join the network. One problem here, the app is designed so the speakers FIRST try to find an update and get stuck in that loop BEFORE YOU CAN CONNECT IT TO YOUR NETWORK AND THE INTERNET! This essentially forces you to have to login to the config page of the speaker to configure network settings as the app has no way to cancel the update search. Additionally common sense requests from the community, like being able to add speakers to multiple groups for on the fly sound assignment (basic feature for these types of devices) has been «on there to do list» for about 2-3 years from what I can tell from the forum posts. Dozens/hundreds of requests, no real movement or change from bluesound.As for support…Nice enough, but it seems like it’s one person or two, and they essentially just read off a basic network troubleshooting guide with heavy implication you’ve set things up wrong. Now given my background I was able to counter this and prove my network was not at issue, unfortunately since this seems to be all they can address that left me dead in the water with my issues around quality, network connectivity, the surround sound bug, app issues, and other random big and little annoyances.I am heavily regretting ordering the additional speakers for my setup, and even more so on investing in this ecosystem in the first place. I am extremely dissapointed in the quality of the devices given my setup has cost around 3.5k, and bluesound does not seem to care to do much about it beyond imply I must have done SOMETHING wrong with my network config (again they can’t say what because each specific they’ve had me check has come back fine/clean/configured properly of course) or say they’re «looking into it». I would look at Sonos or Bose if I had to do this again.One final point, I’ve been able to get my system barely working (frequently need to reboot or reset/resync devices) mainly due to my Profesional background, it’s absurd that these devices are so poorly made with regards to the network/wireless component that it essentially requires a background in network engineering to get about 70% of the functionality you’re hoping for.

Decent features, very mediocre sound
Bought a pair of these to use in our living area as part of a multi-room Roon setup. Set-up was simple and seamless, and was able to assign left and right stereo channels in BluOs app without any trouble. Played a few tracks of various genres and was very underwhelmed. Passable bass response but the mids and the highs were abrasive to my ears and left a lot to be desired — spent some time playing with EQ settings, but could not get these things to sound good. These are okay speakers if you just want something to easily play your Spotify tracks as you’re doing the dishes, but if you’re looking for good fidelity, look elsewhere. Mine are going back.

I have had a Bluesound Node 2i for a long time and picked this up with the battery pack to take my FLAC collection out on to the patio. (It is NOT weather proof! I have a covered patio!)The setup was simple. Similar to the Node 2i, it really just worked. The Bluesound app is a joy to engage with.The sound is what you want from an expensive self-contained speaker. It doesn’t compare to a full stereo rack and never will. But it is still quite good. Nice separation, nice volume, bass…exists. You can purchase two of them and sync them so that you can actually listen to them in stereo. That seems like something you might consider spending money elsewhere on, though.Someone else’s review mentioned a delay when using BlueTooth. I have not had that experience. I routinely use this to watch baseball and football games from my tablet while connected over Bluetooth and it works well.There are instances when I leave it in sleep mode for an extended period that it needs a couple minutes to cycle through it’s startup routine to connect to the network. But it gets there and it works just like it is supposed to.Just to list things off, you can use this speaker to connect via wifi to your network MP3/FLAC collection, AirPlay, Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, MQA, Napster, Qobuz, Radio Paradise, and numerous others as well as a BlueTooth connection.I’ve been using this regularly for about half a year and am still truly enjoying the speaker and the app.

Great sound and connectivity.
The sound is excellent. I bought it to replace my desktop speakers, finally I decided to use it at home as the living room speaker, it handles very well bass and treble sound. BT and wired connection work pretty well. I just need a second one to use them as stereo hifi sound. Easy connectivity with Spotify and Amazon Music. I would include Apple Music to complete the fifth star. Apple Music ✅

Can’t be used as normal computer speaker
This does not work as a simple 3.5 mm aux cable or bluetooth computer side speaker! Even when in those modes it will use the wireless network meaning there will be about a 3 second delay between the audio playing on your computer and when it comes out of your speaker.For example, press play on a video, 3 seconds later the audio kicks in. Get a notification that last for less than 3 seconds and you wont hear anything! The notification is over while the speaker is still thinking about the wireless network and setting in the blue sound app, and if its software is up to date rather than just playing the audio that is being input.Every now and then this results in the audio being out of sync to the video you are watching! A problem I had with the Sonos 1 because it has no wired connection or bluetooth, so I put that in the kitchen and bought this one because it does have wired connections which should mean in sync audio but no, Blue Sound decided it should try to be a dumb smart speaker rather than just playing sound when sound is input.It would work as a remote speaker in another room, like if you have your computer in your bedroom but sometimes want to listen to music or podcast in the kitchen playing from the the computer or your phone, it should work well like that.In these regards its the same as a Sonos 1 and Bose SoundTouch 10. None of them work as simple computer speakers (all for different reasons, all sound great by the way) they all want you to Download app on phone, download app on computer, connect to wireless, enter password, press this button, then they try to be all smart and alexa-ish et cetera, rather than just working as speakers.From what I read, for a simple computer speaker with great sound, the best option will be an AudioEngine or top of the line Logitechs. Unfortunately I have run out of other rooms to put these half smart half dumb speakers that don’t work as computer speakers.

High quality, feels and looks good.
I tried, I really did. I think this unit looks and feels nice, high quality and the sound is good, although I prefer the ‘Denon sound’ myself. I returned it because at my level of tech ability the set up is very complicated and a compete lack of custormer service was too much. The control app is, to me, too complex and clunky. I am shure others will find it fine. The on-line help is extensive and if you are able to find the right article it is helpful. I now have a pair of Denon 250’s.

Better Than Sonos if you like Hi Res Audio
This system is pretty darn sweet. If you think Sonos is the way to go then you need to look at this system by Bluesound before you choose one wireless system or the other. I must say the solid connection, the quality of Hi Res audio if you like that is much better than what Sonos can offer. They both have their benefits but in reality for home theatre Sonos may win, but for audio or music listening Sonos just cant compete!

Good product, quick delivery
I use this Flex 2i as additional speaker that I move between rooms. Installation was very easy (addition to existing Blue Sound system) and the speaker sounds very good for such a small speaker.

Super Sound quality and form completely spoiled by regular drop outs even when well within range of wifi.Also issues with laggy bluetooth. This is with latest software as at October 2020.Frustrating!!!!!

Ganz ok aber nichts großartiges
Als Ergänzung für meine «High End Anlage» bzw. für das Esszimmer, damit man die Wohnzimmer-Musik auch in anderen Räumen zur Verfügung hat. Verwende den BlueSound Node für die Stereoanlage und man kann halt Gruppen bilden und die Musik mitnehmen oder unabhängig hören. Klanglich nicht berauschend aber auch nicht schlecht. Das Ding ist ziemlich klein, was will man erwarten. Anständige Bedienungsanleitungen sucht man bei BlueSound vergebens. Am meisten ärgert mich, dass man ein weißes Gerät bestellt und ein schwarzes Netzkabel mitgeliefert bekommt (verstehe ich nicht). Hatte extra beim Händler vor dem Kauf angefragt, der hat gemeint es ist «weiß». War es nicht. HiFi Händler sind halt eine ganz spezielle Gattung.Händler Bosto-Design weigert sich das zugesagte weiße Netzkabel zu liefern.

Great sound within minutes of delivery.
This is a superb active speaker. Out the box, plug in, download their app. The speaker then connects faultlessly to my network, downloads updates and is ready!I use roon, and roon finds the device immediately and 10 minutes after the Amazon delivery driver hands me the box I’ve got lovely sound from the speaker. Clear and full. Loud enough for a big room.I am delighted.The only suggestion I have for Bluesound is… With three power cables I can plug in in three regions, but It would be nice to have white cables with the white speaker. The black cable is a bit in your face against the bright white.

Konnte das Gerät direkt mit einem Sonos One SL vergleichen. Der Sonos klingt deutlich dünner. Das liegt vermutlich an der kleineren Bassmembran.Der Bluesound überzeugt bei fast allem was man abspielt. Nur bei basslastigen Songs sollte man auf höhere Lautstärken verzichten, weil er dort spürbar an seine Grenzen kommt. Wenn man das via EQ nachjustiert geht aber auch das.Ich nutze den Lautsprecher mit Roon. Ein quasi perfektes Gespann.

Bonne enceinte intégrée au système bluesound
Facile d’installation, bonne qualité sonore (mais ne rêvons pas, ça reste une enceinte de complément, on ne parle pas de hifi là) pour étendre son réseau dans une cuisine par exemple.Connexion parfois instable (pourtant à 5m de la box) coupures wifi par moments.Malgré tout, je ne regrette pas mon choix, même si le prix est un peu élevé.

Amazing crisp sound and lots of power
I love Bluesound speakers. The Flex 2i has brilliant crisp sound and lots of bass. It’s cleaner and less bass heavy than the Sonos line however, which is a good thing. They are clearly designed for audiophiles. For such a small unit, it has lots of power, and with the battery pack it lasts a long time.Make sure you have decent WiFi connectivity wherever you locate it.I know they’re not cheap, but I can’t recommend these enough.

Tengo otros productos de Bluesound y me gustan. Ahora he buscado un pequeño altavoz para el dormitorio y la terraza. Para mi es perfecto. Tengo acceso a todo la musica en mi NAS, Internet Radio y tiene también una salida para auriculares. Encima he copiado algunas álbumes en mp3 a un USB-Stick y por eso puedo escuchar música también si estoy fuera de la cubertería de mi WiFi. El sonido es muy bueno para un altavoz tan pequeñito.

Für die Größe super
Vorher hatte ich einen Teufel One M und den Streamer an der großen Anlage. Klanglich war das super, jedoch ständig Verbindungsabbrüche und vor allem lief die Musik immer um Millisekunden versetzt, wenn beide Geräte synchron spielen sollten. Zusätzlich zum Pulse Flex habe ich einen NAD T758V3i neu gekauft. Egal wie weit die Geräte auseinander stehen oder eines an der FRITZ!Box und das andere am Repeater hängt, es wird immer exakt gleichzeitig abgespielt, keine Verbindungsprobleme und eine super App. Klar kann das kleine Ding nicht gegen die high end Passivlautsprecher für das fünffache des Geldes pro Stück anstinken, für den Preis und die Größe kommt da aber schon einiges raus. Vor allem lösen sie sehr gut auf und haben einen angenehmeren Bass als der Teufel oder die Sonos vom Nachbarn

Great Sound
Clear and accurate sound reproduction that is surprising for such a small speaker. A little on the pricey side for what it is but it delivers better sound than the competition and I’m looking to use a node 2i for my upcoming hifi setup so the Bluesound ecosystem is what I landed on.

sticky finish deteriorates after 6 months of use
I have has nothing but problems with this speaker. I now have 5 Sonos speakers and thew the Pulse flex in the garbage.Had constant problems with connectivity to the network. Would spend a day to fix it all and then go away for a few weeks and come back home and speakers would not pair again.The second problem is the speaker outside finish deteriorated after 3-6 months. The soft rubber finish has gone bad and is now super sticky, I have to go wash my hands after touching these speakers. All the dirt and dust sticks to the nice white finish, that is not nice and white anymore.Overall these speakers are the worst I have ever purchased at any price. I have a $50 blue tooth speaker from Amazon with nice «ruberized finish that we use now and is far better than these Bluesound speakers.$800 wasted for me (including shipping cost), in the garbage

Okay Sound
I was really looking forward to these speakers, and have to admit that I was a little disappointed. It wasn’t a set it up and get great sound out of the box kind of deal. Ven fiddling with the sound controls on the app once I installed it didn’t give me what I was looking for right away. I actually had to move the speakers around and pay attention to placement and bounce acoustics in order to get the fullness of sound that I was looking for!Of course, they were pretty easy to set up otherwise, and they do play well with Alexa when I’m calling for my music or sound. Once I had them set up with proper placement, the sound was a lot better than I’d hoped, considering what I had to go through to get them placed just right!

Extremely Disappointed
I am by no means am audiophile, but I am one of those people that if I hear a song often enough over the years, that will be the «perfect» version and any variation in audio is extremely stressful and noticable. Now, trust me that I really wanted this speaker to work. I wanted a really nice speaker for the table behind the couch to listen to music while studying, nbd. I also wanted an upgrade from smaller, portable speakers. Well, this ain’t it, chief.The first negative aspect of this experience was the app. I hate when a system requires you to download their stuff instead of just allowing you to sync it and control through the phone settings. The next serious defect is that the music that comes out of the speaker is NOT even close to sounding like the original. All of the tones are off, nothing sounds like it’s musically in the correct key, and it sounds very disconnected. Finally, the popping. We’re living in 2020 – Bluetooth technology should be a given. We know how to make it work adequately on $10 target speakers. How this speaker missed the mark, I don’t know. Whenever I start playing something, I hear this popping, static sound that is very similar to the sound my AUX cord makes in my car when I twist the jack into the audio port. This isn’t a pleasant sound to hear and it totally takes away from the musical experience.Based on this experience alone, I cannot recommend this speaker to anyone. If anything changes or improves, I will update this review to reflect that.

Compact with impressive sound!
I also have the Bluesound Pulse and love that I can have music playing throughout my home, sounding heavenly, because of the quality of the speaker. This is one the smaller and but don’t be fooled by its size. I am able to enjoy the array of clear highs and mids and an almost velvety smooth bass when I am listening to jazz, which ramps up to the punchier end when I am listening to house, R&B or hip hop. It connects easily and is simple to operate. The price has dropped some too which makes it even more of a great deal.

Abysmal customer service
If you really have to buy one of these, buy it from Amazon. At least that way you won’t get messed around by Bluesound customer service trying to return it, like I did. I bought mine directly from Bluesound, and then when there was a problem, they first couldn’t confirm that I had ordered. After a couple of weeks I managed to get an RMA out of them, and then, of course, it has to be returned in its original packaging. Lol. Recycled that weeks ago: didn’t think the speaker was going to be defective, but apparently that needs to be on your mind when you buy a Bluesound.

Great surround sound!
This speaker has several great features. I can use it with and without WiFi or on my Bluetooth. It connects instantly. I like how loud the sound goes. Sound quality is amazing as I can use it for movies and you can hear the sound all throughout the house. It’s small and compact so it can be placed discreetly. Definitely something great for action movies or parties.

A $300 speaker should sound a lot better than this.
A cheap corporate gift Brookstone BT speaker inspired me to find something better. This one can be used with Roon, so I gave it a try. After unpacking and letting it upgrade, in 15 minutes it was back in the box. It sounded like a bad radio station – tinny and distorted. I played via BT and via Roon, well mastered tracks I’ve been listening to a lot lately, just to make sure. The free speaker I have can’t deliver any bass, but at least it doesn’t sound distorted. Either this product is a bad design, or this unit was defective.

Compatible with Tidal and; great sound
Bought this for my husband for Christmas. He loves it. It is compatible with his other components and Tidal, which were key features we needed and are not available on all speakers. I purchased the optional battery pack to make it easier for us to take it outside on our deck or patio. Sound quality is great for the intended use.

Buyer beware
Ordered this product a few months ago given it had the optional battery pack making it a completely wireless option and it complimented the Bluesound Vault that i already had. If you are looking for that option you should consider another manufacturer. Mine unfortunately was defective and didn’t charge the battery pack from the get go although i didn’t realize until after the return window at amazon had closed wherein they will readily accept returns including those for warranty and following that it is the manufacturer that is responsible for handling warranty directly with the purchases. Amazon did make me aware of the option they offer wherein one can return any product purchased on a once in ONCE a lifetime basis and get a full refund if the manufacturer wont honor their warranty and kudos to them for offering the same. So i thought no big deal ill contact the manufacturer and they will look after it. It turns out that isn’t the case at all and despite months of back and forth email and their admission they have a problem and both the speaker and the battery is defective and needs replacement they are insisting i exercise the once in a lifetime option at amazon and they will generously send me another battery as only one product can be claimed. Not what I certainly expected from an award winning Canadian company offering high end audio. I have several other units from Sonos that are equally as good and at less of a premium Id suggest choosing a company that stands behind their product and their warranty. Ill eat the cost of the 100 dollar battery and return the speaker unit to amazon and thank you amazon. These guys don’t deserve to be a vendor on your website.

Brilliant streaming speaker for HQ. Intermittent connection problems.
I own two PULSE Flex 2i speakers (both with BP100 batteries) and a Bluesound Sound bar 2. Once everything is connected and going they are terrific. Rich sound detail, simple design, premium solid build quality.Setup and use is pretty straightforward once you have registered services, connected with Wi-Fi, setup sound and configured pre-sets.Minor gripes:The player connectivity (My Players in the BluOS app) remains an occasional frustration. Players can disappear and getting them to reappear is sometimes a mysterious waiting game. These issues are not a daily occurrence (eg. fine for months, then maybe happens 3 times in a week). For me, this isn’t a big deal unless it happens when you are hosting guests, for example. Then it can be a tad annoying. The Spotify connection is also quite clunky at times.Overall, at a price approaching the premium end, I find it hard to give it 5 stars because I’d be saying that my experience with every aspect is perfect. It’s not. However, these speakers do sound great and the issues are very manageable.The market is full of cheaper streaming speaker solutions and I could have bought something for half the price and thought it was a wise move. Who knows? The fact is that now I have these I tend to think that other systems I’ve heard (other people’s houses etc.) don’t sound as good. Maybe that’s just me trying to justify forking out the money and I’m one of those condescending audiophile types. I don’t think I am one of those, but I do think they sound better than most of the others I’ve heard.I’m very happy I chose these and I would buy more of them. Why would I buy more if I don’t give it top marks? Well I just feel that when they are functioning they are brilliant and that tends to outweigh the occasional connection glitch. Every firmware / app update that is issued I’m hopeful that these minor issues will be resolved. When they are, I’d be more than happy to give them the 5 stars they deserve.In addition, the support I have received from Bluesound was very good when I had issues with the BP100 battery not charging. They responded quickly, troubleshot it sensibly before sending a replacement.

I was very impressed with the packaging on this product. It comes in a nice solid box and everything is nicely labelled. The finish on this speaker is very high quality, with the buttons being on their own little black area away from the clean white exterior. This speaker definitely has some heft to it, so there shouldn’t be any concern with knocking it over.As far as connectivity goes, I was very impressed to see an ethernet jack on the speaker. Most of the smart-home stuff these days is completely dependent on Wi-Fi, so having one less device on my Wi-Fi will be nice to have. This also would work in situations where you don’t have Wi-Fi access but do have access to ethernet. There is also the ability to plug your audio source in if you really desire.Setting up the device was very straight forward, and the app acted as a very nice guide. It guided me through setting the device up on my Wi-Fi, as well as pairing my phone via bluetooth. Once I had completed the initial setup, I was able to add my one speaker to a room. This definitely would come in handy if you had multiple of these.As far as audio goes, I would say it is okay. Compared to other bluetooth speakers in this range, the audio really lacks any sort of depth. It sounds very flat and does not do an amazing job of filling a room with sound, something that a device this expensive shouldn’t have an issue doing.The other strange thing about this is it is advertised as a «Portable» speaker. Out of the box it is about as portable as any electronic device is as long as you bring an extension cord with you. If you want a truly «portable» experience you have to spend an extra $100 on a battery pack that connects to their proprietary connector.Overall, this speaker fell short in quite a few departments. The audio didn’t live up to my expectations, nor did the extra $100 I would need to spend to get the portability that the speaker offers.

Die Flex ist schlicht genial: Messerscharf trennt sie Töne und ist gerade zusammen mit Tidal ein wirklich sehr gute Wahl für kleine und mittlere Räume. Bass ist natürlich wenig raumfüllend aber mir kommt es einfach auf saubere und neutrale Darstellung an… Ich habe die Box stark mit der Bluesound Pulse Mini 2i vergleichen – und zwei Flex 2i sind «dreimal besser» als die Mini 2i. Hatte auch überlegt, zwei Mini 2i zu nehmen aber mir gefällt die Flex einfach besser: Bessere Auflösung der Höhen saubere klare Mitten und natürlich auch viel besser im Stereoraum (zwei Flex lassen sich per App kombinieren als ein Stereopaar). If you are buying this, you are buying it not for the below mentioned points, but you are buying it for it’s incredible sound range – low, mids and highs with clean dialog and good bass.Built————Strong and heavy built. Nice shape. This is a very heavy built speaker for it’s size. You can bump up your volume and this little one will stay put! It comes with 25mm tweeter and 102mm woofer. The top of the speaker comes with playback controls and 6 preset buttons which can be assigned to inputs. The back of the speaker has all connections –Ethernet (so, if you don’t have wifi, you can physically connect your internet)-3.5mm auxiliary input which supports both digital and analog sources (adapter comes with the speaker)-micro-usb-usb-optional battery pack (not included) to make this wire free and portable. However, costs almost $100 additional!Setup———If you are not tech savvy, you will struggle, because the speaker does not come with any literature on how to setup other than which app to download. Quality Made, Lacking in Sound Quality
This speaker is really nice. The black version is quite sleek in appearance and blends into decor quite nicely. I really like the backlit control panel on the top of the speaker, it looks great and makes it easy to navigate in a dark area. Set up is quite easy. You can download the app, but you can also just connect it to your device via bluetooth right out of the box. The app allows you to assign multiple speakers to different rooms and have your speakers over your network. It also allows you to adjust the audio settings if you aren’t pleased with the factory presets. It acts as a hub to bring all your music to one app. Personally, I’m a bit tired of having to download an app for everything. I miss the days of being able to make your audio adjustments on the speaker itself. This brings me to audio quality. Honestly, I’m not wowed by it. I’m finding the sound a bit flat. Adjusting the audio settings through the app isn’t helping, it’s just the speaker. I like my music to fill the room and this speaker just doesn’t do that for me. When I turn it up, it begins to sound a bit distorted and I think that at this price-point the sound should be crisp and clean with clear distinctions between highs, mids and lows. Now if you like your music volume on the lower side for background purposes, then this speaker is great. It will be wonderful outside during a family barbecue. If you like to blast your music through the house while you’re cleaning and wish to use this as a singular speaker to do so, you will be disappointed. All that being said, I still like this speaker. I think it will be great for me to listen to music on a lower volume or listen to my pod casts. It is a really nice looking speaker and its packaged really well. I just recommend thinking through how you intend to use it before purchasing.

With these 2 new Pulse Flex that I bought, I have 4 BS devives (+ 1 Pulse Mini 2i and 1 Vault 2). Excellent HiFi sound, excellent frequency range response. I strongly recommend these speakers.

Disappointed it does not have 2 way Bluetooth
I am a big BluOS fan and have a number of 2i components including the Flex 2 which I take outdoors with a battery pack.The Flex 2i appealed to me to use with BT headphones: however the Flex 2i does not have this feature added to the other new 2i series speakers: it has a BT input but no option for BT headphones.

TL;DR?IF you know how to set this up and position it to get the best sound out of it, it will blow you away! It makes you stop everything and just listen to your music. However, you don’t need the WiFi connectivity. You don’t need the separate app (except to turn on the «Tone Controls»). You just need to stream your music through bluetooth. If the price is only 50 bucks more than other bluetooth speakers, then it is a good value if you are invested in the Alexa ecosystem or you use Siri.Out of the box, people are probably going to be disappointed in the sound because it simply isn’t engineered to sit out in the open like the newer omnidirectional speakers. You will want to experiment with the placement of the speaker closer to a wall to pull out the the full sound of the speaker.—————So do I review this as a smart device or as a speaker?As a speaker, based on the other reviews, I wasn’t expecting much. However, I found that with the proper positioning and combination of sound controls, it provides exceptional BIG sound in a very small package.I think a lot of people have gotten used to «360-degree» speakers like UE Boom, Beats Pill, and JBL — these types of speakers are designed to sit out in the open and have an open soundstage.However, «back in the day» when dinosaurs roamed the earth (yeah, I’m old), conventional wisdom was that speakers did better placed near a wall so that the sound reflects off the wall and back out towards the listener — this speaker definitely does better when tucked in a corner like a bookshelf speaker or on the kitchen counter. This has changed somewhat since a lot of newer speakers are rear-ported. However, the Bluesound Pulse is not.The other thing that I found that had a significant impact on the quality of the sound was the EQ settings on your device vs the sound settings on the BluOS app. Regardless of genre (I like everything from Bach, Mahler, up through Rage Against the Machine and Matt Broussard), I found that this speaker does best if you turn off the EQ on your music player (I was using an iPad and the Apple Music app). I also turned ON «Tone Controls» in the BluOS app (but did not change any of the default settings. Again, that gave a more refined balanced sound regardless of what I was playing.After all this tinkering, this speaker was better than any bluetooth speaker I have (including JBL Xtreme 2 which is significantly bigger). That being said, the Pulse Flex *was* selling for nearly 100 bucks more than the JBL (though as I write this review, it is now only 50 bucks more than the JBL.Why the extra cost? Well, because it is marketed as a «smart speaker» — compatible with Alexa and Siri.Now… about the «smart device» features — In my opinion, Bluesound would have done better to declare victory with the sound of this speaker and moved on rather than trying to cram Alexa and/or Siri and Wifi connectivity into this device.If you have Alexa in your house, the commands are clunky and more limited than a «native» Alexa device — flip side, the sound is better than any Amazon-branded speaker so if you don’t mind uttering a few extra words for better sound, that may not mean anything to you.This also supposedly works with Siri — however, I don’t use Siri so again, that functionality is wasted for me.Take out Alexa and Siri and you just have a regular Bluetooth speaker — and this one doesn’t even have a battery (you have to buy that separately).It does come with 2 power cords — one for US markets and one for international markets — so you can take it around the world with you![LCVR]

Bluesound’s Pulse Flex 2i speaker is well make and easy to use, but sound quality is just okay and there is no documentation.The Bluesound is very nicely made from a combination of plastic and metal. The materials used are very high quality and everything is nicely assembled. The speaker feels robust and substantial in the hand.Setting the speaker up is fairly straightforward. First you’ll need to download the app which will guide you through the set-up process. The app worked well and it only took a few minutes to get it up and running. The speaker connects to Wi-Fi and acts as a airplay device on my Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Pro), and I can use the app to play music from my Bluesound Vault as well. You can also hook up the speaker wired with the various hookups on the back. There are lighted buttons on the top for volume and track control, along with numeric shortcut buttons. Unfortunately the app does not really explain how they work, so I was unable to set them up.Sound quality is pleasant. You can adjust the speaker’s tone control through the app. I find the bass to be moderate, but tight. Vocals are rich and warm. The instruments sound distinct and nicely separated. The music has a neutral and natural sound to it. I listened to most genres from Pop, to Rock, to Classical, to Soundtracks. All of them sounded equally good. The volume can be raised high enough to fill a modestly sized room with music.The speaker does not have a battery and must be run off of A/C power. You can purchase a separate battery pack the piggybacks on the rear of the speaker. I actually don’t mind having to plug it in since it’s always ready to go.All in all… a nice speaker for a specific need.

Form Over Function Design With Several Areas For Improvement
There are a couple of issues that prevent a recommendation from buying this, and honestly, there are better options out there.The audio quality is downright abysmal, worse than $40 Bluetooth speakers and is completely unacceptable for the price premium of this product. There are multiple major stream issues with mistiming and dysrhythmic coordination of the channels. Despite the presence of a premium codec over the Bluetooth AAC standard, whoever was in charge of programming the stream coordination did not do proper concurrency control and even amateur listeners can tell an off-rhythm tone. Both trebles and basses are compressed even for lossless compression and do not express the frequency range that I would expect. Also, if paired to a movie or tv show, there is a noticeable lag between the screen and the speaker output unless you use the wired connections. For a wireless speaker, this is also unacceptable even in downmarket products in 2020 much less in this one.The app on the other hand is decent, with the one caveat that the default equalization is not good at all. You are going to have to tweak it some. One other matter, you should disable the replay-gain if it is enabled. After having to do research on why the volume kept altering on some tracks automatically and then leaves others completely alone, the software uses metadata within your audio files to make that determination. Since those metadata tags are optional even within recent releases, the quality control of the estimation is not particularly consistent, but even when the metadata is present, the software corrects in inconsistent ways that detract from the experience.This speaker can use both standard wireless and Bluetooth, but as stated earlier, the wireless solutions have unacceptable lag if paired with an image. For plain music where there is no reference for a lag, there is that dysrhythmic timing as well. Alexa compatibility does work, but considering that Alexa speakers are less finicky, this is only an add-on to those who do not have a brand Alexa speaker.The positives are the design although it does not add much to the audio quality if at all, and the inclusion of both an American and European A/C adapter. It would have been nice to get a 3.5″ aux or optical in. I have no idea what the service jack is supposed to be activated with.I feel that the designer of this really needs to work on the firmware and the audio quality in order to make this product more viable. As is, the speaker looks pretty until you hear its underwhelming sound. You have to tinker a lot with this (set the equalization against the default, connect with wire, find a good resonating location, avoid using this with images) to make it functional, and even when you do, there are plenty of better options at this price level which do not carry these crippling disadvantages. This is the same company as who manufactures the NAD’s and PSB’s. I know this company has the ability to make outstanding speakers like the PSB Alpha P3 which is in the same price range but completely dominates this product in terms of build and sound quality. The designers need to work out the firmware and sound quality to make this a competitive product and should start from a PSB model as a benchmark.

Speaker very heavy and solidly made
Still figuring this out. But what I have seen so far, this is going to be great. Especially in my big, beautiful, newly renovated bathroom. No more tinny music from my phone or the cheesy little Bluetooth speaker I had.I have finally got to digging through all the wires, plugs and pieces, and am attempting to read the instruction book, the thickness of a small magazine. I will update as soon as get it up and running. I wish I could post pictures, it is hard to describe, but it has a LAN plug-in, mini USB and a regular USB ports, the plug that your electrical line plugs in if running on ac not battery. It has a standard headphone jack, then it gets weird (for me), with another jack connector just like the headphone jack, that is labeled “optical in/analog in”. No idea about that one!I am off to study the manual. Will update.Update: there is not one scrap of paper with any kind of instructions on hooking it up, what all the oddball plugs and extra electrical wire with weird metal tipped outlet plug is for. This is absolutely ridiculous. I am going to have to search up info on the internet somewhere. Not all of us are electronics rain-man types.

Another option for whole home music.
This is my 2nd speaker from Bluesound and so far I am loving what this company is doing. There speakers sound great and provide seamless connectivity to each other. You can also isolate each one if you which through the app. They have all the major music services built in to there app so you can stream using it or connect to the speaker via bluetooth. There is a noticeable difference in sound quality using bluetooth vs streaming over WIFI through there app though. This speaker does support all of the high def bluetooth profiles so that may vary depending on your type of bluetooth connection. This speaker can also be used with aux, optical and a usb device. Many companies have tried but so far Bluesound is the only one that has offered up an alternative to Sonos. I highly recommend this speaker and there other products.

Big price, small sound
This speaker is really nice. It is aesthetically pleasing and it fits in just about anywhere in the house. The different color lights are easy to read and let you know the status of the speaker. It also has many connection options. (Ex: airdrop, Bluetooth, headphone, usb, and ethernet) It is very diverse on how and what you use it for.Now the negative: ⁃ low volume: for the price it should be louder. It sounds good but I have equally priced speakers that crank out more than 50% the volume this speaker has. ⁃ Portability: The speaker is wireless, but you must buy a separate battery to do so. I was expecting to be able to charge it and go. That’s a big miss in my book.Overall Verdict: This speaker is very good at what it does. It can be used with many different devices and has a lot of options to do so. But after that it’s not worth the money. With no portability unless a battery is purchased it can’t be used as travel speaker or moved around the house. The volume is subpar as well. For the price I expected something a lot louder. Personally I would look elsewhere.
